This module covers the preparation of group financial statements in accordance with International Accounting Standards, including a consideration of the conceptual and legal aspects. It also introduces critical appraisal of range of theoretical and/or topical financial reporting issues. Financial reporting involves the disclosure of financial information to management and the public (if the company is publicly traded) about how the company is performing over a specific period of time.
Course/Module Objectives:
The main objectives of the course are:
- To provide a more detailed consideration of the technical language and practices of financial accounting with respect to preparing and presenting financial accounting information for groups of companies
- To provide detailed considerations of the theoretical and empirical evidences relating to the interaction of accountancy with regulatory systems and the capital markets
- To develop a knowledge and understanding of more advanced financial accounting concepts and principles through the preparation and interpretation of financial reports
- To enable learners to understand the regulatory framework for financial reporting
- To understand and report financial transactions located in the statements.
