This module will provide students with a good working knowledge of the theories, practices and key issues underpinning effective communication management. Additionally, this module provides a unique opportunity for students to learn and practice the theories and techniques how to communicate effectively to business partners.
Course/Module Objectives:
The main objectives of the course are:
- To provide knowledge of theories, practices and key issues around the management of communication
- To equip students with effective communication management.
- To enable students to explore theoretical aspects of communication and to apply effective communication techniques in practice
Course/Module Learning Outcomes:
After completion of the course students are expected to be able:
- To demonstrate an understanding of how to resource and manage a communications function
- To demonstrate an awareness of the role of the communications function within the wider organisation
- To describe and analyse the purposes and principles behind different forms of organisational communication
- To measure and evaluate the outcomes and impact of a communication(s) activity(ies) within organisational context including an increased awareness of cultural influences on communication and negotiation
- To devise and develop strategies for overcoming communication barriers
