This course/ module is designed for health care students who want to understand the basics of analysis methods commonly used in health care research, towards a better  understanding of published research data and new research directions in the health care industry.

Course/Module Objectives:

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To enable students to gain the required research skills need to undertake analytical research in the fields of healthcare
  2. To provide a thorough discussion on statistical analyses while using appropriate software in health care research
  3. To outline the importance of systematic reviews including a meta-analysis tactic
  4. To enhance required skills to present statistical work in a report format.


Course/Module Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to be able:

  1. To understand and manipulate basic mathematical and statistical techniques as preparation for health care research and statistical analyses
  2. To understand the statistical issues in the planning and analysis of research
  3. To understand the basic statistical aspects of published research
  4. To apply statistical analysis to case studies and case control.
