Course/Module Description:
This course/ module is designed for health care students who want to understand the basics of analysis methods commonly used in health care research, towards a better understanding of published research data and new research directions in the health care industry.
Course/Module Objectives:
The main objectives of the course are:
- To enable students to gain the required research skills need to undertake analytical research in the fields of healthcare
- To provide a thorough discussion on statistical analyses while using appropriate software in health care research
- To outline the importance of systematic reviews including a meta-analysis tactic
- To enhance required skills to present statistical work in a report format.
Course/Module Learning Outcomes:
After completion of the course students are expected to be able:
- To understand and manipulate basic mathematical and statistical techniques as preparation for health care research and statistical analyses
- To understand the statistical issues in the planning and analysis of research
- To understand the basic statistical aspects of published research
- To apply statistical analysis to case studies and case control.
