This course/module introduces the concepts of health care risk management, including the role/scope of a risk manager and a risk management plan. This module will focus on identifying risk exposures in a health-care setting and teaches risk management tools to help minimize, avoid, and/or mitigate these exposures by implementing loss prevention and loss control techniques.

Course/Module Objectives:

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To explore and present risk management concerns
  2. To provide knowledge of the risk management process
  3. To provide an overview of Health Care Risk incidents and action plans
  4. To examine of risk financing in a health-care setting. 

Course/Module Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to be able:

  1. To integrate the systems for risk management
  2. To identify risks and apply risk management activities such as loss prevention and loss control techniques
  3. To maintain appropriate records and actions for Risk Incidents
  4. To respond to potential risk while developing methods to mitigate loss throughout the organization.
