This course/module examines how health care services are delivered, managed, particularly with respect to relationship between public and private providers.
Course/Module Objectives:
The main objectives of the course are:
- To link leadership and management practices to structures, cultures and behaviors in the private and public sector healthcare organizations
- To provide a reflection on key aspects of healthcare organizations and their decision making processes in private and public sector healthcare organizations
- To discuss and critique current management and leadership theories in the context of complex professionalized healthcare organizations
- To explore the principles of effective management and leadership on decision making in private and public sector healthcare organizations.
Course/Module Learning Outcomes:
After completion of the course students are expected to be able:
- To know the different approaches that differentiate public versus private health care organizations
- Explore the application of health services management to public versus private health care organizations
