Course/Module Description:

Strategy and Business Planning is an organization’s process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. It may also extend to control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy.

Course/Module Objectives:

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To make students aware of the various business disciplines and demonstrate how to apply these and explore the management and strategy concepts and analytical techniques
  2. To stress the interrelationships between different aspects of the organization and the integrated nature of strategy
  3. Explore case studies on aspects of strategic management from a real life perspective and critical thinking application.

Course/Module Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to be able:

  1. To analyze the external environment and its impact on the organization as well as assess the internal environment and strategic change issues facing an organization
  2. To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the business environment and strategic consideration it raises
  3. To apply theory, models, frameworks and decision-making tools to identify key issues and make recommendations based on findings
  4. To discuss the advantages and disadvantages of selecting and adopting various strategic options which characterize the competitive business environment.
