Course/Module Objectives:

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To facilitate student learning in the management of care related to the rehabilitation of adult
  2. To explore the transfer of care in a variety of settings
  3. To understand the role of healthcarers and family.

Course/Module Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to be able:

  1. To examine the current political, professional and societal factors which may affect the contexts in which various patient/client groups (adult, older adult, mental health etc.)
  2. To identify how legislation, changing professional boundaries and society’s expectations affect care contexts and care of different adult patients
  3. To discuss the impact on the family of the patient having long term health problems and those requiring rehabilitation
  4. To discuss the spiritual, socio-cultural, physical and psychological factors in an organization/community that determines an individual’s health
  5. To apply the rights of individuals or groups in health care settings and be able to discuss the role of the nurse in client’s patient’s empowerment and advocacy.
