The course is designed to prepare prospective managers for playing a leading role in planning and implementing quality is organizations. The course provides an understanding in quality management concepts and techniques for managing, controlling, and improving quality towards a continuous organizational improvement and competitive advantage.

Course/Module Objectives:

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To explain the basic concepts in Quality Management (TQM) and to differentiate between product quality characteristics and service quality characteristics
  2. To list the key steps in the control of quality process as well as distinguish between quality of design and quality of conformance to design
  3. To explain the process of planning for quality
  4. To explain the system of documentation, implementation and assessment of quality as well as explain specific tools and techniques for quality improvement
  5. To explain the role of external and internal customers in setting quality parameters and enhance competitive advantage

Course/Module Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to be able:

  1. To critically evaluate the modern concepts and theories of quality management and to identify the factors that contribute to the continuous quality improvement process
  2. To explore the concepts of Quality management and its application to the field
  3. To appraise the various evaluation frameworks that exist
  4. To demonstrate the relationships between quality management and human resource management
  5. To recognize the role and significance of QM with a strategic management context towards competitive advantage
